Getting started

Turn the TV on before looking for it in the app.
Connect your iPhone and compatible Vizio TV to the same Wi-Fi network.
Open the app and choose your TV from the discovery list.
On the first connection, a four-digit code appears on the TV. Enter it in the app to pair once.

Why the TV must be on

A TV in Eco Mode turns off its entire network stack when it is off. That means no remote app can discover or connect to it while it is off, including Vizio's own app. Turn the TV on before using discovery.

Turn the TV on over the network

To power the TV on over your network, set Power Mode to Quick Start. The All Settings level is important:

MENU -> Settings -> All Settings -> System -> Power Mode -> change Eco Mode to Quick Start

Can't find your TV?

Confirm your iPhone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network. Guest networks, VPNs, and router client isolation all block local discovery.
Make sure the TV is switched on and connected to your network.
Allow Local Network access for the app in iPhone Settings, then reopen the app.
Restart the TV and iPhone if the discovery list does not refresh after a minute.

Add your TV by IP address

If discovery does not find the TV, add it by IP address. On the TV, find the address at:

Settings -> All Settings -> Network -> Test Network Connection

Try port 7345 first. Some pre-2018 firmware uses port 9000 instead.

Typing does not appear in an app

Text you type in TV Remote for Vizio is sent straight to the TV. If characters do not appear in one particular TV app, switch the keyboard to On-screen mode in TV Remote for Vizio, then try again.
