Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 14, 2026
Who we are
This policy explains how 617SW, LLC handles information in Universal TV Remote for iPhone and iPad. The app does not require a 617SW account. Local remote control communicates with your compatible TV or streaming player; subscription management and supported title search also use online services.
Information on your device
The app stores saved devices, network addresses, pairing credentials, favorite apps, selected themes, and settings so it can remember your setup. It reads device status and supported playback information to display controls and what is playing. Pairing credentials are used to communicate with your device and are not sent to our title-search or purchase-management services.
Local preferences and cached files can be removed by deleting the app. Credentials stored in the system Keychain can persist after an uninstall. You can remove or revoke a pairing using the controls provided by the app or TV.
Subscriptions and RevenueCat
Store payments are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to validate transactions, restore purchases, determine Pro access, present subscription offers, and understand subscription performance. RevenueCat receives transaction and subscription information, an app-generated anonymous customer identifier, and technical information needed to operate its service, such as app/SDK versions and storefront information. We do not receive your payment-card details.
The app does not assign your name or email to that anonymous purchase identifier. If you contact support about a purchase and provide identifying information, the support request may associate the information you provide with that purchase. See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
Title search and online requests
When you use supported movie or show search, search text is sent to our service at tv.617sw.com together with the app identifier and anonymous purchase identifier used to check access. The service processes your network IP address for request handling and abuse prevention. It caches title queries and catalog results, subscription-access decisions, and usage counters. Catalog queries may be sent to title-information sources to find results.
Our service providers may process technical request logs to operate, secure, and troubleshoot these services. These requests do not include your TV pairing password or token. Search availability and direct title launching depend on the paired device.
Voice and selected media
The microphone is used when you activate voice input. Speech recognition runs on your device where supported; otherwise the operating system may use Apple’s speech service. Recognized commands are processed by the app. A spoken title-search request is sent to our title-search service as text. We do not operate a service that stores your microphone recordings.
If you choose a video for a supported casting feature, the system picker gives the app access to the item you selected. The app prepares that media for playback or transfer to the destination you choose. Selected videos are not uploaded to our title-search or subscription servers.
Advertising attribution
The app uses Apple’s AdServices attribution through RevenueCat to understand whether an installation came from an Apple Ads campaign. This may include campaign and conversion information. The app does not collect the device advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not use it to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Remote artwork
The app can request configuration from our service for approved artwork. Manufacturer and streaming-service artwork is currently disabled, and the remote displays text labels. If individual artwork is approved later, the app can download and cache those images from our service. Network requests may produce technical server logs.
Support, retention, and your choices
If you contact us, we receive the message and contact details you provide. We use them to respond and resolve your request. Service, subscription, and support records are retained as needed to provide the service, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and meet applicable accounting or legal obligations. Cached title information may remain in the shared catalog; it is not an account-based viewing history.
You can turn off microphone, speech, or Local Network permissions in system Settings, although affected features will stop working. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription or automatically erase store transaction records. To ask about access, correction, or deletion of information held by 617SW, use our contact form or email hello@617sw.com. We may need information sufficient to locate and verify the request.
Service providers and changes
We use service providers for purchase management, hosting, catalog lookup, and support. We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect our service and users. Our services are not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate.
We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. The effective date above identifies this version.
